This notice describes the information used by eloguessr to run the daily chess rating game, review game submissions, and handle advertising inquiries.

What we collect and why
- Gameplay: a random browser identifier, submitted guesses, the games they belong to, submission times, and whether a guess is daily or practice. These records remember your participation and calculate crowd results.
- Game submissions: the Chess.com username and month you search for are used to request public game archives from Chess.com. Imported records include player usernames, recorded ratings, moves, game dates, and source information so we can review and prepare challenges. We do not request your Chess.com password.
- Advertising inquiries: your name, email, company or brand, campaign message, submission time, and any optional website or budget you provide. These details are available to site administrators to review and respond to your inquiry.
- Email: contacting us shares your email address and whatever information you include in the message.
- Administrator access: administrator sign-in processes an email address and authentication information to protect the private review tools.
- Security: request limits use browser identifiers and, where configured, an identifier derived from your IP address. Hosting services may also process technical request information to deliver and protect the site.
Cookies and browser storage
The first-party cookie elo_visitor remembers your browser and helps enforce guess and request limits. It contains a signed random identifier and can remain for up to one year. It is not a player account and does not establish who you are.
Session storage called elo-replay remembers draft guesses and replay positions for your browsing session. A draft rating is sent to the game server when you submit it.
Administrators also use authentication cookies to stay signed in to the private review tools.
You can clear or block this storage in your browser settings. Doing so can remove access to your saved participation or interrupt game features; it does not delete records already stored on the server.
The current site does not load analytics or advertising tracking scripts. It does not use cross-site advertising profiles, and browser Do Not Track signals do not change its functional storage.
Service providers and outside links
Hosting, database, email, and administrator sign-in providers may process information to operate the service. Public Chess.com archive requests include the username and archive period being searched. The game displays aggregate crowd results rather than a list of individual players’ guesses.
The current banner loads its images and fonts from this site and links to an outside website. Following that link, or another external link, takes you to a service with its own privacy practices.
Keeping and managing information
Saved guesses, imported games, and advertising inquiries currently have no automatic deletion date. Browser cookie expiry does not remove these server records.
To ask about access, correction, or deletion of information associated with you, email chessamigo2023@gmail.com. The information we can identify and the rights that apply depend on the record and applicable law. A browser identifier alone may not let us establish that a record belongs to you.
Updates to this notice
Revisions will appear on this page with an updated date. Any additional notice or consent required by applicable law must accompany changes in how information is used.
